Mumbai: ShareChat has constantly endeavoured to make a highly conducive and enjoyable environment for its 32m+ strong creator community. As a direct consequence, the platform has been able to transform the lives of many individuals who wanted to follow their passion and make a career out of it. One such story entails a band of Tamil musical creators from Chennai, led by the visually impaired composer Isayan Suriya and Hiphop Karan – both of whom were given their first breaks on the platform.
Having already launched a musical composition, ‘Inayam Sertha Idhayam’ on 1st August, the 8-member band ‘Peiyum Kuyil’ also launched a classical album, ‘Kannadi Bommaikal’ on Independence Day, with many other rap and western albums to follow in the subsequent months. With this scheduled release, Isayan Suriya will become the first visually impaired music composer in South India, after having already signed a contract with Blacksheep Digital post his discovery on ShareChat. He even received three devotional album projects after the first album release. HipHop Karan, too, has also released two rap albums of his own and has signed a contract with ‘Red and Yellow’ movie for a song. He is also collaborating with Malaysian and Sri Lankan hip hop artists for international releases.
ShareChat has supported the band with the entire production of their album. Gradually, it is emerging as the catalyst to nurture budding musical artists across the country including Tamil Nadu. Besides, it also focuses on offering additional support to maximize the visibility of such grassroots talent through targeted marketing actions.
Isayan Suriya shares details around his journey “Music has always been my first priority. Being visually impaired and belonging to a humble background, I had been struggling for 5 years to compose my own musical creation. However, with ShareChat, things started moving upwards and it helped us bring a group of crazy music enthusiasts together. It provided a perfect foundation to grow collectively as well as in our individual lives as musical artists. Not just that, I have also started receiving opportunities to work on jingles and other music productions due to the attention my posts going viral through ShareChat. The platform has truly extracted my latent talent to the best of my advantage and helped me to make a career out of it.”
