Chennai: RBU Shyam Kumar, the CEO of New Generation Media Corporation, has moved on from the SRM Group owned organization, ending his 9 years long relationship.
Apparently, Yesterday (19th December 2017) was his last day in the office and his further plans are not known as of now. However, sources reveal that he is likely to float his own outfit after a short break from his professional assignments.
New Generation Media Corporation owns and operates Tamil infotainment channel Puthiyathalaimurai TV and Tamil GEC Puthuyugam – apart from the publications division that publishes few magazines.
RBU Shyam holds the credit of running Puthiyathalaimurai TV with high standard of news dissemination and content line-up, thus setting a trend by raising the bar of Tamil infotainment channels. He also managed to hold his ground against competition from many corners and withstood the senior level exits in editorial department by aptly replacing them with right talent.
He introduced many new properties such as Puthiyathalaimurai Sakthi Annual Awards that stands for the cause of women empowerment.
He joined New Generation Media in 2009 as vice-president to take care of the magazine operations. In September 2012 he was promoted as the CEO of the Company.
Prior to joining New Gen Media, Kumar was associated with The Times of India Group, Chennai as the city sales head and was with the company for 14 years.
He began his career with Eureka Forbes in 1989. Later, he moved to BPL in 1991 in direct marketing, wherein he was in-charge at the Utilities and Appliances division.
Kumar did his MBA in marketing from Pondicherry University and he is also an alumnus of Loyola College in Chennai.
