Sony Pictures Network India (SPNI) has appointed Rajaraman S as its new Head of Content Strategy, marking a significant addition to the company’s leadership team. Rajaraman announced his new role through a LinkedIn post, signalling the start of a fresh chapter in his two-decade-long career in the media and entertainment industry.
Prior to joining SPNI, Rajaraman served as Head – Office of Country Manager, India at Disney Star, where he played a key role in driving strategic initiatives. He recently stepped down from his position following the merger of JioCinema and Disney Star, now known as JioStar.
Before his stint at Disney Star, Rajaraman was associated with Viacom18 Media as Executive Vice President and Business Head for Colors Tamil, where he led the brand’s growth in the regional entertainment space. Under his leadership, Colors Tamil became one of the prominent players in Tamil television.
With over 20 years of experience in the media industry, Rajaraman has held various leadership roles at Asianet, Asianet Star Communications, Hathway Cable & Datacom, Vijay Television, Star Network (South), and NDTV Imagine. He began his career in January 2001 as Senior Manager, Finance at Vijay Television (now Star Vijay).
In his new role at SPNI, Rajaraman will focus on content strategy, driving innovative programming, and strengthening the network’s portfolio across various platforms.
The appointment comes at a time when Sony Pictures Network India is gearing up to expand its content offerings in a highly competitive media landscape. His vast experience across regional and national markets is expected to play a key role in enhancing SPNI’s content pipeline and driving audience engagement.
