Mumbai: It is a known fact that the heart ensures the healthy traffic of blood to various parts of the body. In order to maintain the wellness of the heart, it is important to follow a strict health regimen and carry out timely checkups. Similarly, the police implement strict traffic rules and conduct timely checkups to ensure road safety for the wellness of road travellers.
Most often people ignore the signs given by both the heart and the police which could help in maintaining wellness. Keeping this in mind, this World Heart Day, Radio Mango collaborated with Kerala Police, Thrissur City and certified medical practitioners for a social experiment called “Radio Mango Heart Heroes” to create awareness among the public about the importance of a strict health regimen and timely check-ups for heart wellness.
Police officers waited on the roadside just like they were conducting one of their routine check-ups. The policemen asked unsuspecting commuters to halt their vehicles and instead of requesting them to produce their licence, vehicle papers etc, they were directed to a different kind of “check-up”, conducted by certified medical practitioners. These experts would assess their heart health and explain to the public the importance of incorporating significant changes in their lifestyle, which would make them Heart Heroes.
The unique awareness campaign kickstarted by Radio Mango at the cultural capital of Kerala succeeded in building a higher sense of awareness about heart health along with creating a newfound respect for the law enforcement officers among the public.
The flag-off to the roadshow was conducted in Thrissur on 27th September, 2019, by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Thrissur City in the presence of medical staff from Elite Mission Hospital, Thrissur.
