Ganeshotsav celebrations for the network span across the nation, mainly highlighting Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Bangalore.
In Mumbai, the radio network has returned with its award-winning campaign ‘Ganpati Guards’, an initiative to return Mumbai’s most popular festival to its original glory and protect the sanctity of the city’s most loved deity. Radio City has urged people to report if any pandals are playing item songs and making this sacred festival, a nuisance. The Radio City team would personally visit such pandals and give them Ganesh aarti booklets and Ganpati songs CD. Last year this initiative received a mammoth response with over 3500 SMS’s and a gross impact of 48 lakh, which they aim to cross the mark this year. 11 lucky winners will be sent to Asthavinayak Yatra. Supporting this initiative are celebrities like the Meet Brothers who have asked pandals not to play any ‘item numbers’ including their very own Baby Doll.
In Pune, Radio City has taken RJ battles to the next level by fuelling RJs to get maximum number of pledges. Citizens can sign a pledge to have an eco-friendly Ganesha this year. In this friendly rivalry, Radio City RJs spurs citizens on, to do the right thing: Go Eco Friendly! The Mayor and Commissioner of Pune have kick-started the campaign by pledging to buy eco-friendly Ganesha. This initiative covers more than 40 societies across Pune with studio shift in the famous and holy “Dagdusheth, Kasba Ganpati and Mandai” temple. In Pune the studio Shifts (Where the respective RJ’s would do their shows LIVE) – would happen at 3 most prominent places Kasba Peth – between 5pm-9pm, Dagdu Sheth 7am – 11am and Mandai at 11am – 2pm/2pm – 5pm)
Radio City Nagpur has put its RJ’s to war – an Eco-Friendly war. In an innovative effort to make Bappa happy, Radio City Nagpur is all set to celebrate an Eco-Friendly Ganeshotsav. Radio City ran an on-air contest to encourage the listeners and invite the newly appointed RJ to their home. The canter visited the winners of the on-air contest along with a Radio City RJ to perform an aarti and distribute gifts to its devotees. The canter visited all the famous pandals of the city, ending on Visarajan day, with a huge procession of ‘dhol-kunita’.
