In a bid to further push the residents of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand to cast their vote, Public app, India’s largest location-based social network launched the ‘Mera Vote Meri Awaaz’ campaign ahead of the Assembly Elections 2022. Commenting on this wholly informative and engaging campaign, Tarun Arora, Chief Operating Officer, Public app said, “India is the world’s biggest democracy, and voting is a fundamental right that each citizen should exercise. Being a responsible brand, we felt it was important to do our bit by spreading awareness and providing useful information to users in every nook and corner of these states around polling. We strive each day to provide real-time location-based updates to communities across the country. Owing to our wide user base seeking informative content, it is our responsibility to ensure we educate our users wherever possible and encourage them to vote.”
As per data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the voter turnout of the last assembly elections held in 2017 in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand was 60.7%, 76.6%, and 81.2%, respectively. Therefore, to act as an enabler in a high voter turnout, each card of the magazine had a banner at the bottom urging voters to come out and vote to make their votes count. Additionally, to create excitement among the viewers, the innovative ad format gave them the option to share the individual cards across platforms to amplify the information and persuade others around them also to vote.
