Mumbai: Prime Video has announced the exclusive streaming premiere of Girls Will Be Girls, a critically acclaimed Indo-French joint production. Set to launch in India on December 18, the coming-of-age drama has garnered international praise for its compelling narrative and stellar performances. The film, produced by Richa Chadha, Claire Chassagne, and Shuchi Talati, with Ali Fazal as executive producer, explores the complexities of adolescence and the challenges faced by young adults through a female perspective.
Girls Will Be Girls follows 18-year-old Mira’s journey of rebellion and emotional turmoil, juxtaposed with her mother’s unfulfilled coming-of-age story. The film introduces debutants Preeti Panigrahi and Kesav Binoy Kiron in the lead roles, with Kani Kusruti in a pivotal role. Written and directed by Shuchi Talati, the film has been celebrated at prestigious international film festivals, including Sundance, TIFF, and Cannes, and won multiple awards, including the Audience Award at Sundance.

Girls Will Be Girls made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award in the World Cinema Dramatic Category. It continued its winning streak with awards such as the Grand Jury Prize at the Indian Film Festival in Los Angeles, Best Film at the Jakarta International Festival, and four awards at the MAMI Film Festival, among others. The film was also screened at prestigious global festivals like Cannes, TIFF, and the Berlin International Film Festival.
