Mumbai : Prashant Bhatt – Fiction Head of Colors has moved on from the channel, with the completion of his contract. Apparently, the Non Fiction Head of Colors Manisha Sharma is likely to take over the Fiction Programming also under her fold.
Sources close to Prashant Bhatt confirmed that the exit is due to the expiry of his three years contract with Colors and the Channel was not interested in renewing it as there was nothing great happening in Fiction front during his tenure in Colors.
Before Joining Colors, Prashanth Bhatt was a freelance Creative Director who worked on many Hindi Fiction shows. On the other hand Manisha Sharma was working with Sony TV as Non Fiction Head and she joined Colors in the same designation two years before.
After the arrivals of Manisha Sharma, Colors has split its programming unit into two separate teams to bring more focus on content for weekdays and weekends. The teams were headed by Prashant Bhatt and Manisha Sharma. While, Prashant was in charge of weekday programming with more concentration of Fiction shows. Manisha looked after weekend programming with more prominence to Non-fiction programs.
The elevation of Manisha Sharma with additional responsibility of Weekdays Programs was seen as a reward for her splendid performance, as she was instrumental in bringing popular formats like “Jhalak Dikhhala Jaa” and Comedy Circus (Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors) from Sony TV to Colors up on her movement.
Future plans of Prashant Bhatt were not known as he was not reachable to Media.
