New Delhi : Prasar Bharati is planning to outsource the digitization of archived programmes of All India Radio and Doordarshan. The public service broadcasting corporation has issued an Expression of Interest calling for applications from private entities for the digitization.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Col. Rajyawardhan Singh Rathore gave this information in the Lok Sabha during question-hour, today. He said AIR has accomplished digitization of 1 lakh 39 thousand hours of recordings and Doordarshan has over 20 thousand hours so far.
The archives include records of Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Maulana Azad, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, Dr. Rajendra Prasad and many other national leaders.
Selected AIR archival recordings are available on YouTube and are accessible to the people through mobile phone applications. However, same is not the case with DD archives.
