Mumbai : The 85-minute-long TV interview between Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Times Now channel has set a new record for conversations on social media platform Twitter during a live news TV interview. The total conversations during the live interview peaked at 250,000 total Tweets, of which 170,000 conversations were recorded in a span of six hours.
Twitter users from India and around the world watched the detailed interview live and jumped into the conversation using the official hashtag, #PMSpeaksToArnab. Users followed the interview on-the- go as Times Now Tweeted live-edited video highlights of the TV interview as it unfolded.
“The impact of this TV interview on Twitter highlights how Tweets travel fast and wide; the virality and reach of the Tweets has led to this significant buzz. Twitter conversations gave a new dimension and fresh perspectives to the the historic TV interview as users Tweeted their reactions and commentary in real time and offered an inclusive experience for the user,” said Viral Jani, Head of TV Partnerships, Twitter India.
With prime minister Modi tweeting about the interview, other ministers followed suit.
Communications and IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad tweeted stating it was a comprehensive interview with clarity, while environment minister of environment and forest Prakash Javadekar said Modi spoke not as a politician but as a statesman.
