Women make up only 14 pc of the workforce in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) even though 43 pc of STEM graduates are women. Often it boils down to lack of mentorship and with its new campaign, Olay is looking to change that.
The brand, in collaboration with vlookup.ai, a digital mentoring platform for women, has launched a campaign introducing AI-Shu, a virtual AI mentor for women in STEM.
The over 3-minute brand film showcases the efforts of the first women in STEM – Dr Anandibai Joshi, the first western medicine doctor in India; Dr Kadambini Ganguly, gynaecologist and the first India-educated female doctor; Dr Kamala Sohoni, biochemist; Dr Janaki Ammal, botanist; Dr Mangala Naralikar, mathematician; and Kalpana Chawla, astronaut. It not only spotlights their achievements in their chosen fields, the societal pressures that they has to face and overcome. The film introduces Ai-Shu, an AI mentor for women in STEM so that women get the mentorship they need to pursue a career in the field.
As an extension of the campaign, Olay is offering mentoring to women in STEM with vLookup.ai. After registering on the website, women can take on a one-on-one mentoring session with industry experts in their chosen fields.
