Ogilvy & Mather has promoted Chris Riley to chief operating officer of its Singapore office.
The long-serving Ogilvyite, who has been with the agency for 20 years, first in Hong Kong then Singapore, moves into the role after more than four years running the major global growth markets for key client IBM. He will continue to run the IBM business in his new position.
He takes over the COO job from Giri Jadhav who was promoted to VP of Ogilvy & Mather Advertising, Asia Pacific in September last year.
He will work closely with agency chairman Fiona Gordon, who noted Riley’s versatility during his time with the company.
She said: “Re-invention and innovation have been continual themes for Chris who has a diverse background working across advertising, digital, direct and data. Since joining O&M Hong Kong in 1995 Chris has successfully worn a number of hats, including leading OgilvyOne through periods of great change and growth and overseeing a number of our largest accounts, such as IBM, across multiple emerging and developed markets in the region. I’m delighted to welcome such an accomplished partner to the Singapore leadership team.”
Riley added that during the past 10 years with Ogilvy, he has seen the agency develop into a major force in the market. “It is a privilege to now be able to play a leading role in the management and development of this pioneering and integrated agency group, together with Fiona,” he said. “I’m excited about the opportunity to continue to evolve our services, creative reputation and talent with the aim of helping clients ensure their marketing is world-class.”
