Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific has named David Mayo group chief marketing officer officer in Asia, in addition to his current role as CEO for Bates CHI & Partners. Mayo will officially take up the role from 1 March.
For the last three years Mayo has been at the helm of Bates CHI & Partners, a sister agency network of O&M formed in 2013. Prior to this he was president of O&M Advertising in ASEAN, leading teams across accounts including Coca-Cola, The Economist and Diageo.
Paul Heath, chairman & CEO of O&M Asia Pacific, said having been within the Ogilvy ranks for more than 20 years, Mayo knows clients, people and the Ogilvy network the best.
“I can’t think of a better suited, more qualified, and more liked person to take the reigns of our reputation management as we continue to evolve and drive growth across our 37 offices in Asia Pacific,” Heath said.
Mayo said as the role of the agency continues to evolve and brands come to terms with the need to be more immediate and responsive, it was the job of the agency to help clients transform and stay relevant.
“At the same time, I think that with too much non-differentiated choice in the agency world, as an industry we make it harder for clients to find the right agency partner. So I’m looking forward to working with our leadership teams around the region to drive that differentiation, and ensure that O&M maintains its competitive edge in every market.”
