In this part Ramya Ramachandra, Founder & CEO, Whoppl pays her Ode to the Woman who had left a lasting impact on her professional life:
I often take the time to reflect on the women who have personally shaped my journey.
My career path wasn’t molded by a single hero, but rather a collective tapestry woven by countless threads of inspiration. Each woman I encountered offered unique threads, adding vibrant colors and intriguing textures to the intricate fabric of my professional life.
One such thread, strong and unwavering, is Indra Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo. Her ability to connect with people from all walks of life has always resonated with me. Witnessing her interactions, I noticed the genuine warmth she exuded and the value she placed on building a strong support system. She also possessed an uncanny ability to turn challenges into opportunities, always injecting a positive spin on things. Her nonchalant personality, despite the immense pressure she faced, served as a constant reminder to stay calm and composed in the face of adversity.
Another significant person is Masaba Gupta, the multi-faceted powerhouse. Her “never give up” attitude and fierce spirit are a constant source of motivation. Masaba’s journey, from designer to entrepreneur, actor, socialite, influencer, and fitness enthusiast, showcases a remarkable diversity that inspires me to explore different facets of myself. She embodies the “do it all” spirit, owning her identity and carving her own path in the world. Witnessing her rise, despite challenges, reminds me of the power of perseverance and dedication in achieving one’s dreams.
A third thread, deeply woven into my fabric, is that of Deepika Padukone. Her journey from sports background to modeling, and then ascending to the pinnacle of Bollywood stardom, is a testament to her remarkable talent and relentless work ethic. Deepika’s entrepreneurial ventures and her “My Choice” campaign showcase her courage to advocate for important causes. Most importantly, her openness about mental health resonates deeply with me, highlighting the importance of self-care and vulnerability.
However, the foundation of my tapestry comes from a different source: my parents. Growing up in a gender-neutral environment, with an older brother and being the first entrepreneur in the family, I never felt discrimination or limitations based on gender. My parents instilled in me the belief that I could achieve anything I set my mind to, regardless of who I was.
These are just a few of the many women who have inspired me to be the person I am today. Each one, in their own way, has played a crucial role in shaping my values, work ethic, and approach to life. As I look ahead, I carry their lessons with me, cherishing the diverse tapestry they have helped me create.
I encourage everyone to appreciate the women who have impacted their lives, be it a mother, sister, friend, mentor, or even a public figure. Their stories and experiences serve as powerful reminders that we are all capable of achieving greatness, and together, we can weave a vibrant tapestry of a future where women continue to break barriers and soar.
