Chennai: The Hindu BusinessLine’s unique Changemaker Awards celebrates those individuals, entities and organisations, who through their work, have contributed to materially improving the condition of society, economy and the planet.
Nominations window for the second edition of the award for the year 2019 has been opened on September 15 and will close on 25th October. The awards will be given away early next year.
The Hindu Business Line’s unique Changemaker Awards is the only set of awards to span all categories From individuals to corporates, NGOs, social enterprises and even the government, the awards are given out in six categories – Changemaker of the Year, Young Changemaker, Changemaker (Digital Transformation), Changemaker (Financial Transformation), Changemaker (Social Transformation). In addition, the jury may decide to also award the title of Iconic Changemaker to an individual or entity with a lifetime track record of bringing about positive change.

To qualify, a nominee should have brought about a welcome change in his area of operation or sphere of influence and the change so brought about must have materially impacted society at large/organisation in a positive manner. Also, the change (or the new business model) should be sustainable and easily adaptable.
A rigorous process has been put in place to review the nominations as well as shortlist these change makers and the winner is finally selected by an independent jury of eminent personalities From corporate and social fields.
Winners in the first edition of the awards last year included National Payments Corporation of India (Changemaker of the Year), Dr Rani and Abhay Bang (Iconic Changemaker), Srikanth Bolla (Young Changemaker), Bandhan Bank (Changemaker – Financial Transformation), ZMQ Development (Changemaker – Digital Transformation) and Sridhar Vembu (Changemaker – Social Transformation).
