The government has no plan to extend the deadline for the fourth phase of digitization, that is 31st December this year- says Mr. Yogendrapal, Principal Advisor-DAS. He was speaking in MIB- TRAI OPEN FORUM conducted in connection with Mega Cable Fest, Kochi, Kerala.
“We are not satisfied with the process of digitization in fourth phase. So many obstucles were there including stay orders from courts.It created big confusions.”The government supports Indian CAS and 175 MSOs are started using Indian CAS. Its royalty is very low which save foreign exchange- Mr. Yogendrapal said.” Our next mission is broadband. Government wishes to create a level playing ground.To sort out 8% AGR issue, Goverment already set up a secretary level four member committee . MIB is very keen to solve the issue , he said. Mr. Yogendrapal congratulated Kerala’s cable operators for having high percentage of STB deployment than rest of India.
