New York: NIKE, Inc. has announced a significant 12-year extension of its partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). This renewed agreement solidifies NIKE’s position as the exclusive on-court uniform and apparel provider for the NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League, further enhancing its leadership in global basketball.
Under this extension, NIKE will continue to design and manufacture uniforms, on-court apparel, and fan merchandise for the leagues, demonstrating its commitment to advancing the sport of basketball for future generations. “Nike has always been more than a league sponsor — we’re a strategic partner with an unwavering commitment to growing the game, alongside the NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League,” stated Elliott Hill, NIKE, Inc. President and CEO. He emphasized the importance of their collaboration in creating opportunities for players and fans alike.
The partnership will introduce new content initiatives, bolster grassroots basketball efforts, and develop a joint membership program aimed at delivering exclusive products, content, and experiences to fans. As a major advocate for women’s sports, NIKE is deepening its investment in the WNBA to further promote the women’s game. “Nike is inextricably linked to basketball and has helped fuel the growth and innovation around our sport for decades,” remarked NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert highlighted the partnership’s importance in promoting girls’ and women’s basketball, stating, “Our continued partnership is an opportunity to fortify avenues for development and enhance touchpoints across our dynamic fanbase while globally showcasing the WNBA.”
Additionally, NIKE has renewed its group license agreement with the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), enhancing its role as an official partner. “This partnership highlights the reach, influence, and impact of our members, driving basketball fandom and inspiring millions of people around the world,” said NBPA Executive Director Andre Iguodala.
This extension follows the successful eight-year partnership initiated in 2015, during which NIKE became the official outfitter starting in the 2017-18 NBA season. NIKE has been a partner of the NBA since 1992, the WNBA since its inception in 1997, and the NBA G League since the 2017-18 season.
Together, NIKE, the NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League will continue to expand access to basketball for youth, enhance development programs, and increase participation among girls, ensuring the sport remains vibrant and inclusive for future generations.
