NBCUniversal (NBCU) and JioCinema, Viacom18’s streaming service, have entered into a multi-year partnership, bringing thousands of hours of NBCU films and TV series to India.
NBCU’s content portfolio is fueled by Comcast NBCUniversal’s powerhouse production entities and brands, which includes Universal Television, UCP, Universal International Studios, Universal Television Alternative Studio, Sky Studios, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Pictures, Focus Features, Bravo, and more.
NBCU’s programming will live in a Peacock branded hub starting next month on JioCinema’s newly announced “JioCinema Premium” SVOD tier. JioCinema users can watch series like Young Rock, a comedy about Dwayne Johnson’s life; The Lazarus Project, an action thriller; and The Lovers, a dark romantic comedy. Indian audiences can also have access to Peacock Originals like Bel-Air, a modern version of a comedy series from the ’90s; Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, a spin-off series with Adam Devine reprising his character from the film; and The Calling, an investigative drama series created by David E. Kelley, directed and executive produced by Barry Levinson, and co-composed by Hans Zimmer and Steve Mazzaro. The deal also includes dramas and comedies from NBCU’s library, such as Downton Abbey, Suits, The Office, Parks and Recreation, and The Mindy Project.
JioCinema will offer a variety of NBCU’s reality TV shows, including The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump Rules, Family Karma, and The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning. JioCinema will also feature streaming premieres of popular Hollywood movies, including Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, M3GAN, and films from franchises like Jurassic, Bourne, Shrek, The Mummy, and Pitch Perfect. In the future, JioCinema will also add movies from the Despicable Me/Minions, Fast, Super Mario Bros., and Oppenheimer franchises.
