Chandigarh: FM, the radio arm of DB Corp Ltd., sprung the whole Chandigarh-Tri-City into action with RJ Meenakshi’s ‘CycleGiri’. The fortnight long activity involved RJ Meenakshi inspecting the bicycle tracks of Chandigarh, Panchkula & Mohali and simultaneously addressing the issues shared by bicyclers and residents of the adjoining areas. The initiative was warmly welcomed by listeners and appreciated by the municipal authorities. In just two weeks, the activity saw a huge participation by listeners, bicyclers and municipal administrative workers along with the Mayor of Chandigarh Smt. Raj Bala Malik.
RJ Meenakshi visited many places in the Tri-City on her bicycle and solved multiple civic issues like repairing a broken wall near a blind school in Chandigarh, fixing bad street lights in Panchkula, notorious activities due to overgrown hemp plants in residential colonies and repairing broken parts of bicycle tracks along the tri-city. Additionally, some commercial areas in Chandigarh were not following social-distancing norms. RJ Meenakshi teamed up with the police and administrative authorities to take strict actions against such practices and issued multiple penalties on offenders.
The initiative saw active involvement by Chandigarh’s mayor Smt. Raj Bala Malik and the Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr. KK Yadav.
Commenting on the activity, Mr. Rahul Namjoshi, COO, MYFM, said “MY FM’s strength has always been engaging its listeners through entertaining and meaningful activities. Due to lockdown, a lot of civic issues were getting piled-up. We acted as a bridge between our listeners and the municipal authorities, and executed it in a typical MY FM style with “Cyclegiri”. We are overwhelmed by the response and appreciation from fellow residents and administrative authorities.”
