Mumbai: All the private FM radio channels in Mumbai went offline on Thursday morning after a fire broke out at a transmitter site.
While the transmission of popular FM channels like Radio Mirchi, Radio City, Red FM, Big FM, Radio One was stopped for more than 5 hours on Thursday, three AIR stations were the only FM Networks working out of the twelve stations in Mumbai.
Radio City got its transmission restored around 12:30 PM, Few of stations were back on-air around 2 PM, while others were trying to bring the station up and running.
“Fire in AIR premise has caused blackout of all private FM stations in Mumbai today. Only All India Radio (AIR) stations are working. The efforts are on to sort out the issue and bring the stations up and running,” said a top executive of a private FM company.
