Mondelez International has named Mie-Leng Wong to the newly created role of regional CMO for Asia, Middle East and Africa. Wong is one of the four new regional CMOs who were recently named to bolster leadership and accelerate execution, with the other three based in North America, Europe and Latin America.
Wong has more than 20 years of experience, and has held various marketing leadership roles at Unilever and Heineken, at both global and regional levels across Asia Pacific and Europe.
Chief growth officer Tim Cofer said investing in a new regional CMO model will not only bring deep expertise to its marketing practice, but also increase connection and collaboration between its global CMO, its profit and loss leaders and the global team.
“This new structure will change the trajectory of our marketing function, empowering our fearless commercial talent to drive growth and allowing us to move at the speed of our consumer,” Cofer added.
Mondelez has also named Martin Renaud global CMO, where he will oversee marketing for its portfolio of brands such as Oreo, belVita biscuits, Cadbury Dairy Milk, Milka chocolate and Trident gum. This is part of the company’s commitment to reinvent marketing by making incremental investments.
Renaud will oversee the teams responsible for brand strategy and agency relationships, marketing capability as well as media and digital. Renaud was previously president, fresh dairy, Europe, Danone, with more than 28 years of experience in marketing and general management. He was also the executive sponsor of brands and digital at Danone, where he led key priorities such as organisational design, capabilities, media and marketing services, and digital.
“I’m looking forward to working with our talented teams around the world to accelerate growth through breakthrough marketing of our amazing brands,” Renaud said.
Cofer said Renaud is a marketer with extensive commercial, strategy and digital experience and a strong record of driving growth.
“We’re thrilled to have him join us at this critical moment in our journey. His experience will be a tremendous asset as we reinvent our marketing in a rapidly changing global consumer landscape,” he added.
The appointments come after Mondelez International called for a global media review after the appointment of its North American agency partners – Spark Foundry and Vayner Media. Both agencies will take on media buying duties and on digital and planning portions respectively.
