Mumbai: Mobile app OTT platform nexGTV has roped in actor Priyanka Chopra for a mobile series. This will be Chopra’s second fiction show, post Quantico for which she won the People’s Choice Awards.
‘It’s My City’— an original 14-part mobi-series about four girls on a journey of life in Mumbai will be launched on January 22. This bi-weekly series is being created by Fluence and produced in association with Chopra’s production company, Purple Pebble Pictures and Endemol-Shine India.
Confirming the development, Abhesh Verma, chief operating officer, nexGTV, said, “In associating with Priyanka for ‘It’s My City’ mobi-series, we have attempted to channel her own experiences as a young woman wanting to create her own special identity in a city far from home,” adding that the first episode of the show will be free. “We will eventually decide whether to keep the series free or make it partly subscription based,” said Verma.
The series will be made available to other Indian languages, including Tamil and Telugu, and netGTV is scouting for advertisers. “A number of advertisers have shown interest, so there will be some advertising in the given format we have on mobile,” he said.
