New Delhi: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) held a meeting in New Delhi with industry stakeholders to discuss the Supreme Court’s recent order. This order requires advertisers and ad agencies to submit a self-declaration certificate before publishing ads on TV, print, digital, and radio.
Ministry officials made it clear that this requirement will not change and that the submission of the self-declaration certificate is mandatory. They assured cooperation but did not accept any feedback or agree to delay the implementation date of June 18.
Industry leaders expressed dissatisfaction, stating that policymakers should have consulted them before implementing the mandate. They believe their input could have addressed practical issues with the plan.
Observers think that MIB’s approach shows a significant oversight in how the order is being implemented.
In accordance with the Supreme Court directive, before broadcasting or publishing any advertisement on TV channels, print, or digital media, it is mandatory for every advertiser to submit a self-declaration certificate signed by an authorized representative of the advertiser or company. This certificate must be submitted through the Broadcast Seva Portal of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) before telecast on TV channels.
