Meesho is expecting a busy festive season, after witnessing strong success during the recently concluded sale events for Onam, Raksha Bandhan and Ganesh Chaturthi. The e-commerce marketplace secured close to 1 crore orders over the four sale days. During these sale events, Meesho claims to have attracted over 50 lakh new customers.
The company saw nearly 75 pc of the demand coming from tier 2 markets like Amravati, Aurangabad, Dehradun, Nellore, Solapur, and Warangal. In the last two months, Meesho has onboarded nearly 2 lakh new sellers in preparation for the festive season, it said.
Megha Agarwal, CXO – Growth, Meesho, said, “Aligned with our commitment to cater to diverse consumers in India, we are thrilled to witness a remarkable surge in demand during the pre-festive sales. This pre-festive period has not only brought joy to our customers but has also illuminated our path to success. As we gear up for the upcoming festivities, we are certain to see the momentum uplift for categories such as Personal Care & Beauty, Home & Kitchen as well as Electronic Accessories to grow by more than 100 pc, when compared to 2022. Our strategic efforts, including selection enhancement and improvements with respect to product discovery, have contributed significantly to improving order growth and enabled our customers to fulfill their aspirations at the best price points.”
Meesho has ensured that its sellers address selection gaps by proactively introducing new sub-categories and products in response to emerging trends, including festive decorations like jharokhas, diya thalis, rangoli stencils, torans, lanterns and string lights, informed an official statement.
Some of the key trends observed during the pre-festive sale period includes a rising demand for kitchen organisers, jars and containers. The younger demographic is looking for convenient ethnic wear such as ‘ready to wear sarees’, according to the company.
