Medtech Life’s initiative aimed at promoting regular and accurate blood pressure monitoring and addressing stress management within the Mumbai Police Force. The campaign spanned across 21 police stations in the west zone of Mumbai, encompassing around 1000 police officials. Through a series of workshops, Medtech Life representatives monitored the blood pressure of participating officers and provided stress management guidance led by renowned trainer Fahad Khateeb.
Realizing that the Mumbai Police Department is under tremendous stress due to their nature of work, Medtech Life conducted this campaign to spread the message of accurate and regular BP monitoring to safeguard heart health, among citizens. The company installed BP monitoring devices at 21 police stations across Mumbai West zone to enable the police officials to regularly monitor their blood pressure and keep a check on their health.
Key Findings:
Contrary to expectations, the survey revealed some remarkable insights about the health and well-being of these dedicated officers:
Statistics of Blood Pressure: Astonishingly, 72% of the surveyed police officials displayed normal blood pressure levels, highlighting their commitment to personal fitness and mental health management despite the inherently stressful nature of their profession. 18% of the officials displayed hypertensive levels and 10% displayed low blood pressure.
Stress Levels: The officers by large spoke about the stressful situations that they work in and also mentioned factors like irregular duty hours, night shifts, lack of leaves, dealing with legal and criminal matters play a key role in adding to the stress. Being available on their mobile 24/7 also contributed to the lack of personal and family time post work hours, thereby adding to stress. A majority of the officials go through erratic sleep and work schedules and yearn for work life balance. Nevertheless, they demonstrated resilience and maintained a sense of camaraderie among themselves.
Stress Management: Many officers credited their ability to stay composed in high-stress situations to regular workouts and awareness campaigns.
Lifestyle Choices: The survey found that a significant number of police officials abstain from common stress-relief vices such as smoking and alcohol consumption, opting for healthier alternatives.
Contextual Comparison:
