McCann has announced a leadership change in Japan, one of its largest markets globally, and has named two chairmen and a president and CEO to run the business, including current regional boss Charles Cadell.
Cadell moves from Singapore to Tokyo to take on the role of representative director, president and CEO of McCann Worldgroup Japan, in addition to his duties of president of McCann Worldgroup APAC.
Also running the agency are Hiroshi Namiki, representative director and chairman of Momentum Japan, and Yasuyuki Katagi, representative director, president and CEO of McCann Worldgroup Japan and McCann Erickson Japan, who have been named co-chairmen of McCann Worldgroup Japan.
The changes are effective 1 April, and mark a return to when McCann’s regional bosses were located in Tokyo, as former APAC heads Michael McLaren and Kevin Ramsey were in the past.
Harris Diamond, chairman and CEO, McCann Worldgroup, said in a press statement that Cadell’s move was needed for the Brit’s regional and global client experience.
He added: “Both Katagi-san and Namiki-san have helped establish our success in Japan and, as co-chairmen, will help both our existing and new clients grow through further integration of McCann Worldgroup companies.”
While Cadell runs APAC, regional chairman Prasoon Joshi, who is also CEO of McCann Worldgroup India, and vice chairman, Jesse Lin, who is also chairman of MRM APAC and CEO of McCann Worldgroup Greater China, report directly into New York.
