The Malayalam daily Mathrubhumi which played a major role in the socio‐cultural, political‐legal, economic, and educational sector of the state is celebrating 100 years. Founded by K. P. Kesava Menon, an active volunteer in the Indian freedom struggle in 1923,
Mathrubhumi for 100 years encouraged writers and literature from Kerala and also published extensive Malayalam translations of English and other vernacular texts and classics. Mathrubhumi Books has published the works of Gandhiji, Chacha Nehru, and Dr. S.Radhakrishnan, also publish works of contemporary interest and English titles too.
Mathrubhumi Weekly continues to be the crucible nurturing a generation of writers.
