Kottayam: The leading Malayalam daily Malayala Manorama has gained a circulation of 1,00,804 copies in one year, The total circulation of the vernacular daily is 23.42 lacs.
According to the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) report for July – December 2015, the Malayala Manorama has posted a lead of 8.55 lacs against the second most circulated Malayalam News paper Mathrubhumi.
Manorama has maintained the leading position among the vernacular newspaper in India. As per the July to Dec 2014 Audit report, Manorama had an average circulation of 22,41,943. In 2015 Manorama has increased the circulation to 23,42,747. These circulation figures does not include its circulation in Gulf countries.
On the other hand, Mathrubhumi published by The Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing Company Ltd., maintained a circulation of 14,86,810 copies during July-Dec 2015.
Malayala Manorama is a highly successful multimagazine publishing house, bringing out immensely popular periodicals. The company has an impressive bag of about 25 publications, most of them leaders in their respective category which caters to the information and entertainment requirements of a large audience across various segments.
The first issue of Malayala Manorama published on 22nd March 1890. It was a four-page weekly newspaper, published on Saturdays. The weekly newspaper became a bi-weekly in 1901, a tri-weekly on 2nd July 1918 and daily on 2nd July 1928. By the late 1950s, Manorama steadily expanded and increased circulation and overtook the market leadership in circulation from Mathrubhumi.
