Madurai: The Madurai bench of Madurai High Court has imposed an interim ban on Zee Tamil’s flagship reality show Solvathellam Unmai, hosted by actor and director Lakshmy Ramakrishnan.
Launched in 2011 every episode of the show dealt with the problems and complication between family relationships, where the host would have both sides in the sets debating and discussing with the persons involved and help them towards finding an amicable solution towards the end of the show.
After screening the complaint, Madurai bench of Madras High court has imposed an interim ban on Zee Tamil’s Solvathellam Unmai. It has also posted the case for further hearing to 18th June. The Court has served notice seeking the response of the Broadcaster Zee Group, Stare government and Central government.
Mr. Kalayansundaram, a resident of Rajapalaym in Virudhunagar District of Tamil Nadu had submitted a petition before the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court stating that the show aired on Zee Tamil intrudes the privacy of an individual and affects the personal lives of people involved in the show and seeking a permanent ban on the show.
Sources also reveal that the court has received many such complaints accusing the show in the past and court has taken all that into the account and passed an interim ban until further hearing.
Zee Tamil has refused to comment on this development.
