Chennai: M Gunasekaran, Chief Editor of News18 Tamil Nadu has decided to move on from the channel, ending his association with the channel since the launch in 2016.
Guna was instrumental in commissioning the channel launch right from setting up an office in Chennai to building up a robust team of top journalists and reporters across various districts of Tamil Nadu.
Despite being a late entrant in a cluttered News and Current affairs market in Tamil Nadu, Gunaa managed to steer News18 Tamil Nadu as one among the top News destinations with chart-topping numbers in recent times. He was the first Tamil media journo to bag Ramnath Goenka award for his meticulous coverage on the damage caused by Cyclone Ockhi.
Gunasekaran confirmed MediaNews4u on his decision to move on from News18 Tamil Nadu. In his parting note to his editorial team, Guna said, “News18 Tamil Nadu is always close to his heart as the assignment of launching a News channel and building it as a top-rated player in TN market was most challenging journey in his 25 years of journey with leading News Media entities”.
