New Delhi: In a landmark move into the spiritual-tech space, Lumikai, India’s leading interactive media and gaming-focused venture capital fund, has announced an $800K investment in AskMyGuru’s $1.2 million seed round. The round also saw participation from MPL and prominent angels, including ex-Match Group Americas CEO Amarnath Thombre.
AskMyGuru, founded by former MPL product leaders Krishna Mohan Vedula and Vivek Sadamate, is an AI-powered interactive platform built to deliver spiritual and problem-solving guidance inspired by ancient Indian Vedic Shastras. The platform is based on a proprietary large language model (LLM), custom-trained on deep Indic knowledge systems, aiming to bridge traditional wisdom with new-age digital experiences.
The investment represents Lumikai’s first foray into the spiritual-tech sector, a fast-evolving niche that combines the scale of digital platforms with India’s rich cultural heritage.
The co-founders bring deep expertise in scaling consumer platforms. Vedula previously managed high-revenue products at MPL with P&Ls ranging from $10-50 million, while Sadamate, who served as SVP-Branding at MPL, played a crucial role in crafting the brand’s identity and viral growth strategies that helped MPL reach over 100 million users.
Commenting on the fundraise, Krishna Mohan Vedula, Co-Founder, AskMyGuru, said, “We are delighted to have our seed round led by Lumikai, investors who truly grasp the seismic opportunity in redefining spiritual-tech with new-age interactive and immersive mechanics. Combined with Lumikai’s deep understanding of new media, expertise in scaling social platforms, and knowledge of culturally relevant IP, AskMyGuru aims to redefine the spiritual industry for the digital age, while empowering gurus with sustainable income. Together, we are building the definitive platform for billions of seekers who believe in Bharat’s rich culture and traditions, with tech that is as profound as the traditions it honours.”
Lumikai’s backing aligns with its thesis around immersive, gamified, and personalized digital experiences disrupting traditional industries. The fund has a history of supporting platforms at the intersection of interactive content, new media, and cultural engagement.
Speaking on the investment, Aditya Deshpande, Vice President, Lumikai, said, “AskMyGuru sits at the nexus of India’s spiritual heritage and next-generation interactive technology. The platform brilliantly reimagines spiritual guidance as an immersive digital journey, creating meaningful connections through thoughtfully designed interactions. The platform perfectly embodies our thesis on “Systems of Play”, i.e products disrupting legacy industries with lean-forward, interactive, and gamified experiences.
Multiplying public dependence on spirituality, and with an accelerating digitisation of consumer behaviour, the segment is lucrative, culturally sticky, and primed for tech-led disruption. Krishna and Vivek’s experience in scaling consumer platforms to 100M+ users and triple-digit millions in revenue proves how well they execute at scale. With AskMyGuru, we see category-defining innovation in interactive media, deeply aligned with India’s cultural fabric and digital habits.”
The funding will be used to accelerate development of the platform’s Ved Vyas AI engine, broaden multilingual support beyond the current English, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu, and deepen the platform’s offering across verticals like career, finance, and relationship guidance.
