New Delhi: Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha TV channels have been merged into one channel named Sansad television.
Retired IAS officer Ravi Capoor has been appointed the channel’s Chief Executive Officer for one year with immediate effect. Until further orders, whichever is earlier, read the order by Sunil Minocha, Sansad Television’s undersecretary.
The new platform will continue to live broadcast upper and lower house proceedings and news and current affairs programmes in Hindi and English.
The merging plan was proposed in 2019 by an expert committee under Prasar Bharati CEO Surya Prakash, with an intention to cut costs, streamline management of the channel and alter the content to make it a more appealing product for viewers and advertisers.
