New Delhi : Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka state governments are in discussion with Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL) to set up a government owned legislature television channels to broadcast live feed of state legislative proceedings, said a media report.
This move is aimed at restricting private television channels from broadcasting legislature proceedings as the airing of the proceedings on private channels had created controversies.
A meeting between the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and BECIL was held to discuss the setting up of the channels on 28th January. The investment by the government is likely to be around Rs 1 billion added the report.
