Bengaluru: Kuku FM, an audio streaming platform, is set to make waves in the spiritual and devotional audio space with the launch of its new app, Bhakti, at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025—the world’s largest religious gathering, expected to draw over 400 million attendees.
Bhakti aims to redefine India’s spiritual audio content by offering a comprehensive library of devotional and mythological shows, bhajans, spiritual lessons, and festival-centric thematic content. With over 2,000 hours of programming across 500+ shows, the app is poised to cater to devotees of all ages and spiritual journeys.
The Bhakti app’s content ranges from classic texts like the Bhagavad Gita, Mahabharata, and Ramayana to curated audiobooks, chants, and stories that delve into Indian mythology, rituals, and devotion. Featuring long-form, high-quality audio shows, the app offers listeners an immersive experience of India’s spiritual legacy anytime, anywhere.
Jhoomer Sinha, Vice President – Hindi Business India, Kuku FM, explained the app’s significance, “India’s rich culture and spiritual diversity will be on full display at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. Given the massive attendance and the positive sentiments around it, we feel this is the perfect platform to launch our devotional and spiritual app – Bhakti. There is a dearth of high-quality professionally produced premium shows in this genre and we intend to fill this gap with this app. We have drawn inspiration from our rich heritage and have high quality audio shows spanning content across mythology, spirituality, devotion, rituals as well as chants and bhajans.
At the Kumbh Mela, a 360-degree campaign is being planned leveraging on-ground presence with tent branding, kiosks and more. Across the kiosks, devotees will get a glimpse of our audio shows as well as a chance to participate in several contests. The campaign’s give-aways include an all-expense sponsored trip across India’s holy Char Dhaams among many other thoughtful prizes. A follow-on Bhakti campaign will also be kickstarted across digital platforms to reach new audiences throughout the country.”
To celebrate the launch, Kuku FM has planned a 360-degree campaign at the Maha Kumbh Mela, including on-ground tent branding, kiosks, and contests. Devotees will have the opportunity to experience the app’s offerings firsthand, with special prizes such as an all-expenses-paid trip to India’s holy Char Dhaams.
Following the Mela, Kuku FM will expand its reach through a robust digital campaign designed to introduce Bhakti to new audiences across India.
Jhoomer Sinha further emphasized Bhakti’s potential: “While the Maha Kumbh Mela happens once in 12 years, with the Bhakti app, devotees can continue their spiritual journeys from any corner of the world with just a click. During our beta stage, Bhakti received an overwhelming response with over 500k downloads and extremely positive feedback.”
In addition to traditional spiritual content, Bhakti explores India’s growing music streaming and astrology markets, offering curated devotional music and astrology-themed original content. Plans are underway to double the app’s catalogue within the next year, with content expanding into multiple regional languages beyond Hindi.
With its rich repository and focus on preserving India’s spiritual heritage, the Bhakti app promises to be a transformative addition to the country’s audio streaming landscape.
