Pune: Kinetic Green Energy and Power Solutions Limited has unveiled a fresh television campaign for its all-electric E-Luna, breathing new life into the iconic “Chal Meri Luna” tagline. With this new campaign, Kinetic Green pays homage to the beloved Luna legacy while introducing a modern twist, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility and innovation.
The campaign creatively integrates the nostalgic “Chal Meri Luna” phrase, which became an emblematic part of Indian advertising culture, with the advanced technology and eco-friendly attributes of the E-Luna. The commercials highlight the E-Luna’s long-range capabilities, robust load-carrying capacity, and suitability for both urban and rural transportation needs, positioning it as a versatile and reliable mobility solution for the Indian market. The campaign also emphasizes the environmental benefits of adopting electric vehicles.
The E-Luna TVC, conceptualized by the Ogilvy Group’s 82.5 Communications, is led by advertising legend Piyush Pandey, who was behind the original Luna campaign. The new TVC campaign also mirrors the structure of the classic 1970s campaign, featuring three separate commercials that combine humour with a light-hearted, emotional connection.
Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Founder and CEO of Kinetic Green, shared, “This campaign is a celebration of the Luna legacy while positioning the E-Luna as the future of mass mobility. Our vision is to make the E-Luna synonymous with versatility, and progress empowering users with a smart mobility solution that seamlessly integrates into their daily lives. With this TVC, we aim to evoke nostalgia while inspiring a new generation to embrace electric mobility. By striking an emotional chord with our audience and with a twist of humour that is sure to bring a smile, we are driving not just awareness of the new E-Luna but also aim to build a connect with the viewers and showcase how the E-Luna is designed to be a partner in progress of the aspirants of new India.”
Piyush Pandey, Chief Advisor at Ogilvy Group, added, “Reviving the Luna brand with a modern twist was both a challenge and a privilege for the Group. Our ‘Chal Meri Luna’ campaign made Luna a cultural icon, a ‘Safalta Ki Sawaari’ for an entire generation. Now, Mr. Arun Firodia’s daughter Sulajja Firodia is driving this legacy forward. The new campaign for E-Luna has been crafted by 82.5 Communications, which is part of the Ogilvy Group, and it blends nostalgia with new-age mobility through three light-hearted, memorable TVCs. For our team at 82.5, these aren’t just ads—they are a tribute to Luna’s evolution and an exciting new chapter in its journey.”
Mayur Varma, Chief Creative Officer at 82.5 Communications, emphasized, “E-Luna is electric. E-Luna is street-smart. E-Luna is made for the hustlers of India. In times where communications are built on cultural trends, Chal Meri Luna is a timeless cultural megatrend in India. And with Luna coming back in its e-avatar, it is time to tell contemporary stories on this megatrend.”
Launched in 2024, the E-Luna has already made an impact, with over 25,000 units sold and running on Indian streets. This early success highlights the growing demand for sustainable, efficient, and affordable electric mobility solutions. Kinetic Green is poised for even greater growth with an aggressive marketing strategy, backed by its extensive network of over 500 dealers across India. The company aims to expand its footprint further and strengthen its presence in the electric vehicle market.
The original “Chal Meri Luna” campaign, launched in the 1970s, remains one of the most iconic advertisements in Indian history. The ad captured the essence of freedom, accessibility, and practicality, cementing the Luna’s place as a trusted mobility option for millions of Indians. By reviving this timeless campaign, Kinetic Green aims to reinforce the E-Luna’s role in the future of transportation in India.
The new ‘Chal Meri Luna’ campaign will be launched on February 21st and will be promoted across television, digital, and social media platforms, helping to usher in a new era of electric mobility for the masses.
