Chennai: Tamil Satellite channel Kalaignar TV is successfully stepping in to the tenth year of operation on 15th September 2016. In coincidence with the anniversary, the Channel is gearing up for the launch of its Grand Mega Property Thenpandi Singam, an epic bravery drama in its 8:30 PM time-band.
Thennpandi Singam is an epic drama about a eighteenth century story of the Marudhu Pandiyar brothers (Periya Marudhu and Chinna Marudhu) who ruled Sivagangai Seemai in Tamil Nadu towards the end of the 18th century. They were the first to issue a proclamation of independence from the colonial British rule on 10th June 1801, which was 56 years ahead of the First War of Indian Independence which broke out mainly in 1857.
The Grand Mega show was penned by Dravidian leader Dr Kalaignar Karunanithi himself as he is very passionate about creating this show in Small screen. The channel source says that It is in-fact a dream project for him. The Script portrays the bravery and warring achievements of the Marudhu Pandiyar brothers with a detailed study on the socio political scenario prevailing at that point of time.
The Marudhu Pandiyars were worst nightmare for the British Rulers due to their might in that region and their warring skills and they were not budging to the conditions of the British rule. Finally, they were captured on 24 October 1801 and hanged in the fort of Tirupputhur, in what is now Sivaganga district, Tamil Nadu.
Thennpandi Singam is being produced by Kutty Padmini’s Vaishnave Mediaa Works that is already producing another historical drama Ramanujar – based on the life of the Vaishnavite Acharya Ramanujar, The show has successfully crossed 300 episodes on Kalaignar TV. Vaishnave Mediaa Works also produced another epic drama Romapuri Pandian for Kalaignar TV and it is also producing the Hindi daily soap Krishnadasi on Colors.
Thennpandi Singam will be aired on every Monday to Friday on Kalaignar TV at 8:30 PM starting from 15th September 2016.
