Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai has been proposed by the Indian government to lead the Press Council of India. Justice Desai is a retired Supreme Court of India judge.

She took over for Justice (Ret.) CK Prasad, who stepped down from his position in November 2021. The PCI chairman’s post has been vacant ever since.
She served as Supreme Court justice from September 13, 2011, to October 29, 2014. Prior to her time on the Supreme Court, she was a judge on the Bombay High Court.
