London: The Global Chess League (GCL), a collaboration between Tech Mahindra and FIDE, has announced an extended partnership with JioCinema for Season 2, set to take place in London from October 3 to 12 at Friends House.
All matches will be streamed live on JioCinema, continuing the platform’s commitment to making the league accessible for free to viewers across India. Hursh Shrivastava, Head of Strategy, Acquisitions & Partnerships at Viacom18 Sports, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “Indian chess is at an exciting juncture, and we believe GCL will contribute to its growth. JioCinema will help the league reach a wider audience.”
The franchise-based league features six teams, each comprising six players, including an Icon player, two Superstar men, two Superstar women, and one Prodigy player. Teams will compete in a double round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the final on October 12.

This season boasts prominent chess stars, including World No.1 Magnus Carlsen, five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand, and dynamic player Hikaru Nakamura. Tech Mahindra aims to enhance fan engagement through innovative technologies like AI and AR/VR, setting new benchmarks in the sport.
