Share Share ShareShare

Goa:  Jio Studios, the media and content arm of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), is making a powerful mark at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), showcasing an exciting and diverse lineup of films that promises to captivate audiences with a blend of intense dramas, thrilling mysteries, and thought-provoking social narratives. The studio’s presence at this prestigious festival highlights its growing influence in the Indian and global entertainment industries.

Jio Studios is presenting a slate of highly anticipated premieres at IFFI 2024, with a lineup that includes a mix of genres designed to appeal to all types of movie enthusiasts. Among the standout films is Saali Mohabbat, a gripping “howdunit” thriller, marking the production debut of renowned fashion stylist-turned-producer Manish Malhotra. The film, starring Radhika Apte and Divyenndu, has already generated significant buzz for its compelling storyline and stellar performances.

Also premiering at IFFI is Mrs., an emotionally charged drama featuring Sanya Malhotra in a standout role. Having received standing ovations at international festivals, the film will make its much-anticipated Asia premiere at IFFI. In addition, Hisaab Barabar, a satirical social drama starring R. Madhavan, explores the issue of financial fraud, combining humor and intense emotion as it follows a common man’s fight to expose a corporate bank’s billion-dollar scam.

Further solidifying its presence, Jio Studios’ Article 370 has been selected for the prestigious Indian Panorama section of IFFI 2024. Chosen from a pool of 384 entries, Article 370 joins an elite list of 25 films, further cementing Jio Studios’ reputation for producing content that resonates deeply with both Indian and international audiences.

These films are a testament to Jio Studios’ commitment to producing diverse content that appeals to a broad spectrum of audiences. The studio has had a remarkable year, with major successes including Article 370, India’s official entry to the Oscars; the massive success of Laapataa Ladies; the record-breaking box-office performance of Stree 2; the supernatural thriller Shaitaan; and the recently released blockbuster Singham Again. This impressive lineup underscores Jio Studios’ growing influence in the entertainment sector and its commitment to delivering high-quality, engaging content.

Jyoti Deshpande, President of Media and Content Business at Reliance Industries, has been a driving force behind Jio Studios’ rapid growth and success. At IFFI 2024, she will participate in an esteemed panel discussion titled ‘Women in Films – India Chapter: A New Vision’, alongside prominent figures such as Guneet Monga, Andria Wilson, Tilottama Shome, and Aparna Purohit. This session will focus on the evolving role of women in cinema and how diverse voices are reshaping the film industry.

Deshpande will share her insights on fostering inclusivity, championing diverse perspectives, and empowering women in film—a theme that resonates strongly with Jio Studios’ mission. With women leading key creative and strategic roles across its projects, Jio Studios has been a trailblazer in promoting diverse voices in the entertainment space. This session at IFFI promises to be a compelling conversation on the future of cinema, where diverse stories and strong female leadership will play a pivotal role in shaping the global entertainment landscape.

Jio Studios’ bold presence at IFFI 2024 highlights its commitment to creating films that not only entertain but also spark conversation and drive social change. By continuing to push boundaries with its diverse content slate and by empowering underrepresented voices, the studio is setting the stage for the future of Indian cinema on the global stage.
