Jio Platforms bags a Gold for India in the Marketers category at the 2024 Young Lions; Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan win awards for the first time

Mumbai: Following seven competitions over four days, the Cannes Lions International Festival for Creativity has announced its 2024 Young Lions winners.

India through Jio Platforms won a Gold in the Marketers section sponsored by Pantone:

Focussing on the foundation of creative work that engages its audience, the Young Lions Marketers competition centres on creating a strong and effective brief. This year the brief was set by the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA), which asked competitors to recruit young people, entrepreneurs, influencers and civil society groups to champion and advocate for the IDA, to create greater awareness for their work.

The Young Lions competitions, which are sponsored by Adobe, are at the heart of the Cannes Lions School. They embody a true celebration of creativity across the world where young professionals have the opportunity to showcase their talent and achievements. All of the entries have been judged by members of the Cannes Lions Juries live in Cannes, and the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners have now been announced.

The News Movement, the official media partner of Young Lions, brought the competitions to life through behind-the-scenes video content and interviews designed to capture the spirit of creativity and innovation of emerging talent at the Festival.

It’s inspiring to see new countries enter and win. This year saw Kazakhstan take home a Silver in the Digital competition and Uzbekistan win a Bronze in Design. The competition brings together an incredible cohort, whose stories have been amplified by our official Young Lions media partner, The News Movement. Congratulations to all the 2024 winners, and to all the competitors who rose to the challenge.”

The Young Lions Design competition focuses on creating effective, refined and attractive brand identity. This year, the Young Lions were briefed to create a visual identity that raises awareness for the less well-known filmmaker Billy Wilder, by Museu da Imagem e do Som.

The Young Digital Lion competition focuses on building a digital-led campaign that uses both the platform and the technology behind it. During the competition, participants were challenged to create a campaign to bring more people into the movement for climate justice by Project Dandelion.

The Young Lions Film competition aims to create beautiful work that is impactful. The brief for this year’s Film competition focused on redefining what it means to be a successful man today to attempt to eliminate harmful stereotypes in advertising. The Unstereotype Alliance asked competitors to create a compelling film to address this and inspire young men.

This year’s brief was delivered by the Unstereotype Alliance, which asked competitors to curate a powerful media strategy that reaches young men and presents a more diverse, contemporary understanding of success for them.
