Mumbai: Comic Con India, the country’s flagship pop culture celebration, is entering a new chapter with a strategic leadership realignment. Jatin Varma, the founder and driving force behind the platform since its inception, along with co-founder Karan Kalra and Sonal Varma, who served as Event Director, are stepping back from their day-to-day operational responsibilities.
While the founding team will no longer be involved in Comic Con India’s daily management, they will continue to play a key role in shaping the brand’s long-term strategy and vision in an advisory capacity.
The leadership transition follows NODWIN Gaming’s full acquisition of Comic Con India in January 2024 at a valuation of ₹55 crore. Under NODWIN’s stewardship, the iconic event has rapidly expanded its national footprint with new city editions in Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Pune, complementing its established presence in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
Founded in 2011, Comic Con India played a pioneering role in bringing fandom into the mainstream. Under Jatin Varma’s leadership, the event evolved from a niche gathering to one of India’s most anticipated entertainment festivals—celebrating comics, gaming, cosplay, and storytelling. The team’s passion built a platform that united fans, creators, and brands, while setting new benchmarks for immersive pop culture experiences in India.
As the organization prepares to usher in a new core leadership team, Comic Con India is expected to retain its fan-first identity while innovating to meet the evolving tastes of India’s growing pop culture community.
An official announcement on the new leadership structure is expected in the coming weeks.
