The lead actress Karthika Nair, who is a very successful actress down South, is making her television debut with Aarambh and is very excited about the show. However, she was initially very apprehensive about taking up a TV show because of the long, stretched formats and the fear of stepping out of her comfort zone and taking up something that has a longer commitment. Goldie Behl had personally chosen Karthika to play the character of Devsena because he was looking for someone with South Indian attributes, and Karthika fit the role perfectly.
“I don’t work for money. “, says Karthika. “I do only quality work, and for me, the script is all that matters. When Goldie Sir initially approached me, I rejected it because I did not want to work in television. However, after I read the script, my approach changed completely. For an actress to let go of such an amazing script would be blasphemous. “, she added.
One of the main reasons why Karthika agreed to do the show was because it was a finite series, and also a very challenging and progressive character. She plays the character of Devsena, who is the princess – soon to be queen, of the Dravidian clan, and the warrior who saves her clan from the attacks of the Aryans.
All said and done, the show is definitely becoming the biggest project on Indian Television and no wonder it has drawn comparison with the most popular international fiction series Game of Thrones.
No doubt, Star Plus is charting a huge marketing push to take to masses and reach every corner of the country. The show will also be extending a tangible benefit to Star India, as its regional channels will also be benefitting out of it as the same can be dubbed and remade in to regional languages.
