Mumbai: BARC India has updated its subscribers that the Total TV Universe will be updated in the BMW software on 26th July 2018 that falls in Data Release Week 29.
As per Broadcast India 2018 Survey, India currently boasts of 197 million TV households, up 7.5% from 183 million TV households reported in Broadcast India 2016 Survey. From an individual standpoint, the Total number of TV Viewers in India has increased from 780 million to 836 million, a growth of 7.2%.
The Universe Expansion (UE) will lead to an increase in absolute reach/impression numbers of Total TV/individual Channels.
Basis on the market feedback and BARC India’s commitment to deliver more granular data as the panel expands, the rating agency has also implemented the following changes :
1. PHCHPJK will be split into 2 markets (Punjab/Chandigarh & Haryana/ HP/J&K).
2. Additional Age cuts of 2-12yrs and 13-21yrs have been introduced. Note that the earlier 7 age cuts remain unchanged.
Apart from the above changes in Markets and Age cuts, BARC India will also updating its BMW software with Minor bug fixes.
Based on subscriber feedback, BMW users this year will be able to run data using the same login pre and post the new UE. BARC India however, advised its subscribers to refrain from data runs which comprises both old and the new universe. In case if they perform this action, a pop up message will appear on the software indicating that the data has been generated across 2 different databases/universe.
While BARC India offers to answer questions which arises with the new UE changes, it discourages its subscribers from raising queries on the data which falls in the overlap period.
BARC India has also stated that the expansion of the reporting sample/panel from 30K to 40K is already underway and shall be completed by March 2019 in a phased manner.
