Hyderabad : Mudra Communications founder Achutani Gopala Krishnamurthy (a) AG Krishnamurthy, passed away at the age of 73 in his Hyderabad residence after a brief illness early this morning.
Born at Vinukonda in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, He moved to Bombay after completing his graduation in Andhra University at Visakakpatnam. He joined as a clerk in Calico Mills before joining advertising division of Reliance Industries.
Later, He joined Shilpi ads before setting up his own venture, independent advertising agency Mudra Communications and Advertising in 1980. Mudra handled the prestigious accounts such as Reliance Industries fabric brand Vimal, Parle Agro’s Rasana, Adani, Paras, Dhara Health, Core Healthcare and Symphony.
Mudra headquartered in Ahmadabad, began to pick up the advertising business of other Gujarat-based entrepreneurs. Gradually established its presence across the whole of India and becoming the National agency which could challenge multinational ad networks for business.
AGK was a good friend of Reliance founder Dhirubhai Ambani and he wrote many books on Dhirubhai. Later he settled down in Hyderabad. He kept writing for Telugu dailies till his end.
He established Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), the institute for strategic marketing and communications, in 1991 to feed the growing advertising industry with trained talent. Soon, the Institution attained premium status among Indian advertising professionals, many of them took a mid-career break to peruse the course in MICA in-order to scale their career growth path in Advertising World. AG Krishnamurthy breathed his last on the occasion of 25th anniversary of MICA.
