Mumbai: HistoryTV18 presents a three-part weekly series takes viewers on a fascinating exploration across India, Central Asia, and Persia. ‘Dream Routes’ premieres on 5th December, Thursday, 10PM. The show is a kaleidoscope of rich histories, traditions and culture, along the great trade routes of the ancient world.
The series is a showcase of the architectural splendour and spectacular landscapes of the region, its people, fascinating festivals andcrafts, as well as the colourful customs of diverse ethnic and religious groups.
The first episode of ‘Dream Routes’ takes viewers on a 2,500-kilometre journey along the iconic Grand Trunk Road that runs from Kolkata in Eastern India to Peshawar in North-western Pakistan. The ancient trade route is not only a pulsating lifeline for the transport of goods, connecting important centers of trade but also boasts of an incredible diversity of cutures, providing unforgettable experiences along the way. Starting in Kolkata, the show takes viewers to Bodh Gaya, Varanasi and Delhi, before crossing the border into Pakistan to experience what Lahore and Peshawar have to offer.
Likewise, the journey along the incredible Pamir Highway in Central Asia takes viewers through some of the most sparsely populated regions of the world, where the strong cultural identity of the inhabitants still stands out resolutely in a changing world. The third and final episode is a study in contrasts – the inhospitable landscapes of erstwhile Persia, juxtaposed with the warmth of its people. Viewers shall experience the richness of local traditions, flavours and the hospitality, on the road from fabled Isfahan to Samarkand.
