Hindi GEC topped with more than 20 pc share of GEC genre’s Ad Volumes: TAM Report

According to TAM AdEx-Report on Advertising in GEC genre for Jan-Jun’22, 50 pc indexed growth observed compared to Jan-Jun’20 and 3 pc growth compared to Jan-Jun’21. May’22 had highest ad volume share of 17.4 pc.

The highest share of 27.9 pc of Ad Volumes in GEC genre was seen in Jan-Jun’21. GEC contributes 28 pc of the ad volume share of overall advertising across different genres.

During both periods, Hindi GEC topped with more than 20 pc share of GEC genre’s Ad Volumes. Three out of Top 5 subgenres retained their ranks in Jan-Jun’22. Top 5 subgenres accounted more than 65 pc share of Ad Volumes during both the periods.

Count of Advertisers on GEC genre increased by 5 pc and count of Brands increased by 3 pc in H1’22 over H1’21.

Among the Leading Sectors, Food & Beverages topped with 29 pc share of GEC genre’s Ad Volumes followed by Personal Care/Personal Hygiene with 20 pc share. All Sectors except Services, Household Products and Personal Accessories retained their rankings in Jan-Jun’22 compared to Jan-Jun’21. Personal Accessories entered Top 10 list with substantial rise.

In the Leading Categories, Milk Beverages topped the GEC genre with 5 pc share in Jan-Jun’22. Top 10 categories added 36 pc share of GEC genre’s Ad Volumes. Five categories from F&B and two from Personal Care/Personal Hygiene sectors were present among the Top 10 list.

185+ categories registered positive growth in the Top Growing Categories. Aerated Soft Drink saw highest increase in Ad secondages, followed by Tea during Jan-Jun’22 compared to Jan-Jun’21 in GEC Genre. In terms of growth pc among Top 10 categories, Ecom-Wallets topped with highest growth of 4.4 Times.

Among Leading Advertisers, HUL, Reckitt Benckiser and Brooke Bond Lipton India remained at top 3 positions in GEC genre during both Jan-Jun’21-22. Coca Cola India and Pepsi Co were the new entrants in Top 10 list. FMCG Players reigned the list. Top 10 Advertisers contributed 50 pc share of GEC genre’s Ad Volumes.

580+ Advertisers advertised exclusively in GEC genre during Jan-Jun’22. JCB Industries was the top Exclusive Advertiser followed by Mangalam Matrimony.Com.

Among the Leading Brands, Harpic Power Plus 10x Max Clean moved up to first place in Jan-Jun’22, from thirteen place in Jan-Jun’21. Three brands entered in Top 10 list during Jan-Jun’22. Top 10 Brands contributed 10 pc share of GEC Ad Volumes.

960+ Advertisers & 2K+ Brands exclusively advertised in the GEC genre during Jan-Jun’22. Tata Play and Lizol All In 1 were the top Exclusive Advertiser and Brand respectively during Jan-Jun’22 compared to Jan-Jun’21.

Prime Time was the most preferred time-band on GEC genre followed by Afternoon and Morning time bands. Prime Time, Afternoon & Morning time bands together added more than 70 pc share of ad volumes.

In Jan-Jun’22-21, <20 sec ads of GEC genre had 28 pc and 23 pc share of Ad Volumes respectively. Ad commercials of 20-40 seconds were most preferred for advertising on GEC channels during both the periods.
