Mumbai : Google India has launched a film that encourages Indian women to explore the internet.
Created by Lowe Lintas Delhi, the film opens with a young mother recounting her first day at school.
Google India ’s marketing director Sandeep Menon said, “While there is low awareness about the benefits of the internet among women in India, there are many who want to get online to succeed in life. We at Google India are working with various partners to help spread awareness about the benefits of being online among women.”
The film is designed to inspire digital natives to bring their mothers online. Only one third of the internet population of India is female and that proportion is expected to shrink as the online audience grows.
“There are large number of educated women in India with internet access in their households, but they still do not use the internet. We are making an appeal to their children to hold their mom’s hand as she discovers a new world online,” Menon said.
