Mumbai: Google has elevated Sanjay Gupta, Country Manager – India to the position of President for Asia Pacific. Roma Datta Chobey has been appointed as the interim head of Google’s Large Customer Sales team following Sanjay Gupta’s promotion to President of Google APAC.
An internal memo from the company indicates that the search for Gupta’s successor as India head is currently underway.
Philip Schindler, SVP & Chief Business Officer at Google, announced in an internal mail that following Scott’s retirement announcement in May, an extensive search for the new APAC President was initiated, led by Scott himself. He shared the news that Sanjay Gupta, the Country Manager for India, has been appointed as the President of Asia Pacific.
Gupta in a LinkedIn post wrote, “Scott’s leadership and vision has already paved the way for Google’s investments in APAC. We grew our footprint around the region, invested in technical infrastructure, focused on skills development and partnered with the technical and scientific community in the region to support APAC’s prowess.”

Chobey started her career with IDBI bank and has worked in senior roles in banks like Standard Chartered and HDFC where she was the VP- Branch Banking. She joined Google in 2015 and is currently the MD – Digital Native Industries, Media and Entertainment and Government.
