Mumbai : Gaurav Banerjee, who was elevated to General Manager role after Nachiket Pantvaidya moved on from Star Plus a year back, is all set to be given additional charge of Life OK after its EVP and General Manager, Ajit Thakur, put in his papers. Sources close to the development informed BestMediaInfo.com that an announcement in this regard is likely to be made soon. However, it is also learnt that Star India is in the process to find a permanent replacement for Thakur.
It may be recalled that Thakur put in his papers last month after spending more than three years at Star India during which time he launched Life OK and made it a successful Hindi GEC on the rating charts.
After graduating from St Stephen’s College and MCRC, Jamia, Banerjee joined Aaj Tak in 2000. He was the anchor for the war room that covered the Afghan war and elections. He then joined Star News and anchored the 9 PM news and was the executive editor of primetime news. He was also responsible for the launch of Star Ananda which was a big success from day one. He set up Star’s regional channels and took Jalsha to No. 1.
Banerjee came to Star Plus in October 2009 and played a pivotal role in shaping content around “Rishta Wahi Soch Nayi” theme.
In his previous role at Star India, Banerjee helped shape content strategy for Life OK in addition to Star Plus where he developed shows like Mahadev, Diya aur Baati Hum and Sasural Genda Phool.
