Garage Group, which started as Garage Productions in 2015 in Kanpur, is looking to expand operations. After acquiring Eye Media Networks in 2022 to establish a presence in Ahmedabad and Mumbai, the integrated digital agency Garage Media operating from NCR and Lucknow is looking to strengthen its presence in the East and then South, and also establish a presence in the Middle East by end-2023.
In a conversation with MediaNews4u.com, Saurabh Gupta, Founder & Managing Director, Garage Group, said, “For now what we are focusing on is the East market wherein we are already working in the Kolkata region and we are trying to locate the ideal places. We have a couple of clients from Kolkata. The next target market happens to be the South. However, it is highly likely that before the South market we may get into specific regions like Jaipur because we are seeing a lot of traction happening out there as well. For now, we are looking at Kolkata and by the end of 2023 or some time in 2024, we may explore some other markets. We are also looking at expanding into international businesses and our core focus is Dubai. So, hopefully by the end of this year we shall be opening our office in Dubai.”
Started as an independent digital production house, Garage Group today comprises Garage Productions, Garage Media and Garage Music launched in 2020. Garage Productions’ website states that the number of employees is 51. Garage Media bills itself as a full-service ‘digitally creative’ agency.
Besides production (content, music and video) and technology support, the group also claims to have a presence in OOH, DOOH and ITES.
Gupta, who started off as entrepreneur after corporate stints at Reliance Entertainment and Percept Media, claims to have strived to remain profitable instead of chasing scale and valuation since launch. Now, being a ‘100pc debt-free and cash-positive company’, the group is also looking at the acquisition route to expand.
He said, “Today, we are in a position that we can definitely acquire other few agencies specifically in the core domain of technology. Content is also very important for us. I would be very keen to look at some agencies which are small but very impactful with their creative approaches. So these are the current shops that I am looking to acquire or invest in, in whichever capacity.”
“When it comes to larger agencies, we already have certain tie-ups which are kind of a joint venture for certain markets and certain businesses that we take care of. So that will continue to happen in the future also. But for acquisition or investment purposes, we are looking at relatable smaller agencies,” added Gupta.
